First of all, thank you so much for participating in this challenge! There are so many amazing female characters out there and I'm happy we get to show them some love this time of year. Please take all my optional suggestions and fannish blatherings as just that...suggestions. I’m comfortable with any rating. Follow your muse and I know you'll write a great story! General Likes: Humor, bittersweet emotions, character studies,“five things” fic, role reversals

Dislikes: If you’ve noticed from my requests, some of the ladies I have requested could be considered anti-heroes or villains. Don’t erase their faults or gloss over their sins- I like my ladies in all their complicated, contradictory glory. J I also don't particularly like stories that involve non-con, death of a major character, or wildly divergent “in space” or highschool AUs

On Porn: I often say that I enjoy "Porn With Plot." What does that mean? I take that to mean smutty sexytimes that feel true to the characters and their world. It doesn't necessarily mean that I want a well plotted mystery with a sex scene thrown in ( though I'd probably read the hell out of that and really enjoy it!) but just that sex should hopefully reveal something about the characters and have some relationship to the larger themes of the story. As someone who has written everything from G-rated fluff to explicit BDSM, I'm pretty easygoing about sexual content. I don't think things need to be sexually explicit in order to be sexy. But I don't object to smut, either, if that is something you want to include.

The Hour: Lix Storm, Bel Rowley
Lix and Bel! Bel and Lix! They are two fabulous women and I’d love anything about their relationship. I especially like all the interesting intergenerational dynamics- in many ways Lix is the older and wiser mentor to Bel, yet Bel, the younger woman, is also Lix’s boss. I’d love to see femslash for these two, especially if Bel came to Lix in a scenario that mirrored the Lix/Freddie hookup of s1. But gen is great, too- one of the things I love most about these two is that they don’t fall into the trap of rivalry and jealousy where the older woman and younger woman are pitted against each other. I wonder sometimes how much or how little Lix sees of herself in the younger Bel or how much Bel might fear turning into Lix. Lix backstory would also be welcome, especially if it included lots of femslashy adventures in the 1930s! While I like the idea of Lix’s secret sorrow around Sophia in s2, I’m not that into Lix/Randall as a ship.

Tipping the Velvet: All Media Types: Diana Lethaby
Can you tell I’m a little obsessed with the fabulousness that is Anna Chancellor? I’d really love some Diana backstory. Tell me all about how she became a Victorian power lesbian. When did she first realize she was different? How hard was it for her to negotiate the expectations of her class and gender with her sexuality? The Diana we see is cruel and unsympathetic, but I’d like to believe she wasn’t born that way. You could also explore what happens to her after the romance with Nan ends. If you prefer to incorporate details from the book, that’s totally cool.

Battlestar Galactica (2003): Ellen Tigh, Helena Cain
I recently did a BSG rewatch and I am fascinated with the character of Ellen Tigh, mother of the Cylon race. I’d really love to see her backstory explored more, especially her role as a scientist on Earth before the robot apocalypse there and as a creatrix among the Cylons and centurions. What does she feel toward her creations- the eight cylon models? Did she ever feel like she was playing God? Something that explores her awakening and how she integrates her “human” Ellen memories with her Cylon self could also be really interesting.

I also really love Cain. (I do love me a good villainess) A story about her relationship with Gina and why she falls for her would be wonderful. Or something from her POV from the destruction of the colonies onward. You get the sense that at the end she knew she had become monstrous and did not like the woman she had become. At the same time, she felt she couldn’t act any other way. I’m interested in that ambiguity in her character.

Kushiel's Legacy: Melisande, Phedre, Sidonie, Amarante, Edmee
So, I really love all of these ladies. I’m a huge Phedre/Melisande shipper and anything with the two of them together, playing mind and sex games with each other, would be gangbusters. AU scenarios where Melisande ends up on the side of the “good” guys or Phedre ends up on Melisande’s side are definitely welcome. Melisande is such an inscrutable, fascinating character- it would be wonderful to see an event like the Longest Night from her POV. What I like most about them is how the more Phèdre beats Melisande at her own game, the more Melisande falls in love with her. I think the bond between scion and dart tugs both ways- we know how Phèdre turns to mush around Melisande, I’d love to see that bond explored more from Melisande’s side.

Sidonie and Amarante are so sweet. I’d be especially interested to read a story where Amarante instructs Sidonie in the ways of Naamah. Totally hot. :D Or how their relationship evolves throughout the course of the 2nd trilogy. Something exploring their first meeting could be very interesting. I have a feeling that resident “ice princess” Sidonie might have bristled at first to having Amarante assigned to her.

Finally, I love Edmée de Rocaille, even if she’s dead before canon begins. (let’s call it “Lyanna Stark Syndrome”) If I had to pick a Kushiel character that is most like me, I think it would actually be Edmée. How did she see herself vis a vis Rolande and Anafiel’s relationship? What combination of love and politics might have lead to her accepting a situation in which she would be Rolande’s queen in name, but second-best in his affections? I personally see her as being more motivated by love than by ambition, but I'm open to other interpretations. I have read "You and You Alone," the short story about Anafiel and Rolande- but I'm not horribly wedded to that piece of canon, so you do what you want. As with a lot of situations in the Kushielverse, I’m most interested in those scenarios that really push the boundaries of Blessed Elua’s precept.

Downton Abbey: Sarah O'Brien
Awhile ago on a meme, a friend asked me what the fic was I most wished someone would bring into being. I responded with the following:

"I really want a fic where Sarah O'Brien inherits a ton of money and gets elevated to the aristocracy and...it's actually really hard and confusing for her. She's spent her entire life scheming and plotting and feeling resentful about her lot in life- who does she become when the identity of being a servant is taken away? And everyone at Downton is all resentful and flabbergasted because "Oh noes, how could something so wonderful happen to someone so mean?"

I realize that might be waaaay too detailed. But something that explores O'Brien, her backstory, why she feels the need to plot and scheme all the time, would be awesome. I also would love to see her relationship with Thomas explored- and if you've seen s3, I'd really love some fix-it fic for these two, or just something that deals with the fallout of the events of s3. I love them as evil BFFs. And I really wanted to believe that O'Brien genuinely felt something for Thomas- damn you Julien Fellowes!
