kmoSince my last post, I have kinda sorta maybe taught myself to use this new thing called tumblr that all the "cool" kids are using. I'm still not really sure what I'm doing over there exactly.So far as I can tell, it is pretty much the giant timesuck I really don't need in my life right now....'cause I'll write for about a solid ten minutes, get on tumblr, and then it's all like "vintage WPA travel posters, oooh shiny!" and i'm gone for the next half hour. If you want to check out my personal tumblog, there's lots of reblogged cartoons of Downton Abbey, snarky gifs about academia, and ladies in period dress. Also, cute animals. That's pretty much me in a nutshell. I also am the brains behind Academic Nina Garcia.
I've also been catching up on all the period dramaz this week.
Downton Abbey S3 ep1
- Daisy's work stoppage and Mrs. Pattemore giving zero fucks about it= My favorite thing about this episode
- Oh there was a wedding? Enh. I guess if I have to root for a het couple on this show, it's Matthew and Mary. So, congrats on your utterly predictable romance. Thank god they didn't drag out the "will they or won't they" for a whole season
- Shut up. Branson. Sibyl looks all pale and pasty...and I don't think it's cuz she's preggers. I think it's cuz she's married to a boor like you. But it's not your fault. I know. It's just because Fellowes doesn't know how to write a sympathetic Leftist character.
- It's probably too much to hope Bates gets shanked in a prison riot, isn't it?
- I really am watching a different show than everyone else. But my sass aside, I quite liked it. I hope it bodes a return to politics with a small "p" instead of big grand world changing events like s2.
Upstairs Downstairs s1
Gorgeous but vapid show. If anything, it makes me appreciate Downton more. I feel like we really didn't get to know the characters at all in 3 episodes. and what we saw I wasn't totally fond of. I like the husband and the Indian secretary and Ivy the maid who wants to be a showgirl. But that's about it. That said, I will watch s2 if only to see Alex Kingston in gorgeous 30s dress.
Boardwalk Empire s2
I'm about halfway through this one. Esther Randolph just showed up and I am like finally, a competent female character who keeps her clothes on most of the time. I'm a little in love. That's really all it takes.
