Weeping Angels in America, Downton 3.03
Oct. 1st, 2012 04:42 pmWell, the Fall Finale of Doctor Who really gives the last 20 seconds of the Angels in America opening sequence new meaning.
Seriously, somebody better request AiA/Doctor Who crossover fic for Yuletide. Or I could just add it to the pile of fics I'd like to write. I'm already shipping Belize/Canton Everett Delaware III.
- a fine farewell to the Ponds. I didn't get choked up, tho, until the very end where the Doctor was reading the last page of her story. Now, bring on New Girl!
- As I've said before, I have a love/hate relationship with how River has been portrayed. Alex Kingston could stand up there and read the telephone book and I'd probably be entertained. Overall, I like it better when she is jaded and bitter about the Doctor. And I could do without Moffat's tired quips about marriage. But, she's a professor now....does that mean her trip to the Library is fast approaching?
- Honestly, I expected River's story arc would be whether or not Eleven will fall in love with her enough to want to save her from her fate in the Library. But now I wonder if that's Oswin's story instead.
- A bit sad that they teased us with the baby angels and then didn't explain them at all! I feel cheated. I was hoping we were going to get a lesson on where baby angels come from.
- Weeping Angels AND a creepy hotel/apartment building? Color me really scared.
- Well, thank heavens Matthew finally came around. Can the ghost of Saint Lavinia finally be laid to rest now? If I were Lady Mary, he'd have been sleeping in the doghouse with Isis after some of the crazy wackadoo shit he said. There has been a disturbing amount of hate for Mary on tumblr- even more disturbing because it is coming from women. Because according to these girls, disagreeing with your husband is the equivalent to castrating him. My inner Gloria Steinem is crying.
- Aaack O'Brien and Thomas fighting! Girls. girls, you're both pretty. Stop it before someone loses an eye. Thomas of all people should know how lethal O'Brien can be...she fucked up the last person who pissed her off with nothing but a strategically placed bar of soap. I have a feeling there is going to be some homo on homo crime here. :(
- Poor Lady Edith. I have a case of the sads now for her. But if these leads to her moving to Bloomsbury and writing misandrist mystery novels, I am totally ok with that.
