15 Characters Meme & Other Fannish Things
Jun. 11th, 2013 12:41 pmThere's a Comment Meta Fest going on over at
fem_thoughts . Come on over and play! You can watch me be a cranky misandrist about "The Fall." Also lots of female-centric and femslash-friendly discussion if that doesn't appeal. ;)
In the comments of this week's Dear Prudence, there is a hilarious fake letter from Edmure Tully seeking Prudie's advice post-Red Wedding. Totally made my day. Also Edmure would totally write to Prudie. There's also a really funny one from Jorah,
Dear Prudie,
While I was otherwise occupied with my bedding ceremony, my new father-in-law had my sister, nephew and his wife killed, along with their bannermen and army. Now I am a prisoner in his dungeon. I can't help but think this is a terrible breach of etiquette. However, my new wife did turn out to be kind of hot, so there's that. How should I address this breaking of guest rights with my FIL? He is is rather prickly and as you can see, does not take being slighted very well.
Signed,
Edmure Tully, Lord of Riverrun (I think I'm still lord? Unclear on that.)

Clearly, I have a thing for the Head Bitch in Charge. Also Machiavellian criminal masterminds, loud British women, and highly competent secretaries....

Date: 2013-06-12 02:01 am (UTC)YES! i do love competence! i don't root for ineffectual teenage assassins or villains who are bad at their job. :) i noticed this watching GoT this season when i caught myself vaguely admiring Roose Bolton- he's a bastard, but a *competent* bastard. i think the vaguely feminist thing on there might be women who unashamedly want power- whether that's being queen of a country or queen of the office.
i am drawn to intimidating/scary types. it's funny, i look at this list and i think it reflects a bit of my own duality. I feel like Liz Lemon most of the time (my house certainly looks like LL lives here) but I've been told I can be very intimidating when you're sitting across the seminar table from me.
