Hello, dear writer, and thank you in advance for signing up to write in one of my fandoms for Yuletide! I'm sure you notice that my LJ is pretty sad....I actually am not a big LJ user. And though I am a longtime observer of Yuletide, this is my first ever time as a participant. So please forgive me if I make any newbie request mistakes. If you'd like to see the type of stories I write and like, please feel free to check out my work on AO3 or at fanfiction.net where I write as green lion.

As you'll notice from my requests and likes, I tend to have a thing for sympathetic villains and anti-heroes. I'm a big fan of foe-yay and sexual tension between protagonists and their antagonists. I also love strong, intelligent female characters and stories that feature relationships between women as the primary focus, even if they are not explicitly femslashy. I am comfortable with any rating. And please feel free to treat my ideas and suggestions as jumping off points rather than strict commandments. Follow your muse and I know you'll write a great story!

General Likes: Humor, UST, bittersweet emotions, character studies, passing the Bechdel Test, Porn With Plot

Dislikes: I'm not huge into stories that are happy-fluffy to the point where they are unbelievable with canon. I also don't particularly like stories that involve rape or death of a major character- unless it is making reference to canon events. I hope that doesn't seem too contradictory.

Request 1: Kushiel's Legacy- Melisande, Melisande/Phedre, Melisande/Delaunay

I am a shameless, shameless Melisande fan and Melisande/Phedre is my OTP. I would love to read anything Melisande-centric. A missing scene from Kushiel's Dart, her backstory, her time in the Temple of Asherat, a post-Mercy reunion with Phedre, anything. I've always wanted to read a story that explored her pre-series relationship with Delaunay and the strange game they played with one another. I respect the relationships in canon, but I'd prefer not to read a story that features Phedre/Joscelin or Phedre/Nicola. Given the nature of this fandom, I am comfortable with any rating.

Beyond what I wrote in my prompt, I will just add that the thing I love most about the way Carey writes Melisande is that she never turns into a two-dimensional villain and the way she retains so much humanity even while being utterly amoral. I'm fascinated by the bond between scion and chosen and the way Phedre feels both love and hate for Melisande. I don't even normally go for AU, but the possibilities suggested at the end of Avatar, when Phedre envisions the many paths her life might have taken, each of them tangled up with Melisande, have always seemed pregnant with possibility to me. A story written in Phedre's unique first-person voice would be an added bonus. If these pairings and suggestions don't speak to you, I will also throw out that I love the Night Court as a setting and premise. If I were an adept...they'd probably stick me in Orchis House (I am known for my sense of humor) but if I were a patron...I'd like to visit Dahlia. :)

I should note that I haven't read the Naamah trilogy yet. (saving them for a rainy day and trying to make Terre d'Ange last a little longer!) So please no spoilers.

Request 2: The Sopranos- Tony Soprano, Jennifer Melfi

Melfi is one of my favorite characters of all time and I'd love to read any story that focuses on her and her relationship with Tony. It can be gen or het though something that explores the UST dynamic between Melfi and Tony would probably be my preference. The thing I admire most about her is that though she is complicit in her own way with Tony's crimes, she is the only one he never corrupted. So a missing scene from a season one or two episode or even a post-series fic that deals with how she reacted to the events of the finale would really be my cup of tea.

The prompt really sums it up for me- I love Melfi. She's smart and sexy and has a whole lot of humanity. She's far from perfect, but dare I say she's even a good therapist. My favorite Tony/Melfi moments were always in seasons 1-3 and I was sad when the show kind didn't know what to do with their relationship in the later seasons. I guess I really like the tension there for her between the personal and the professional and the sort of mental gymnastics that go on for her as she feels empathy for someone who is essentially a killer and criminal. Or if you'd want to flip it, I'd enjoy a Tony-centric story about Melfi, too. Hell, even Melfi/Carmela if you could make it work.

Request 3: Pink Carnation Series- Jane Wooliston, Henrietta Selwick, Sebastian Vaughn

Jane is the most elusive and therefore the most interesting of all the Pink Carnation heroines for me. I'd love a Jane story, especially if you could make it into some femslashy foe-yay with a female Black Tulip. :) Or some Jane/Henrietta. Why does Jane remain unattached? What are the pressures of being the Pink Carnation? Alternately, if femslash isn't your thing, my favorite het paring from the series is Vaughn/Mary. A story with them being their incredibly snarky, dangerous, sexy selves would be great, too.

So confession, I'm a history grad student like Eloise and these books are a real treat for me, especially the parts where Eloise is off doing grad studenty things, like going to archives to pour over boxes of dusty manuscripts. Unlike Eloise, I am a gay lady....and while I love the historical fiction romance parts of the Pink books, I wish Lauren Willig would throw her queer readers a bone and make one of the heroines a bit bi-curious or something! So, Jane speaks to me as having the most femslashy potential- I'd love to see her tangle with a female French spy, or even do a little male impersonation where she has to charm a lady or two. Henrietta is my fave heroine. But I probably find Vaughn/Mary the sexiest canon pairing- I do love how even after we have read their stories, the rest of the Pink-verse still views them as cold, slightly scary snobs. I also really liked Turnip and was happy he got his own book. I don't really care for Amy, Charlotte, or Letty.

Thank you for taking the time to read, Yuletide Writer! Best of luck to you and I can't wait to read your story on Christmas day!
